Into the Wild. I don’t know why I skipped Into the Wild last fall, but it’s quite an affecting and powerful film. Up-and-comer Emile Hirsch is a real-deal talent, and his nuanced take on real-life wanderer Chris McCandless gives the film an epic and tragic core. The beautiful cinematography and Eddie Vedder’s rousing Richard Thompson-esque score make Into the Wild an enjoyable, haunting travelogue.
