Since 2015, Maharishi School students have been hosting the Empty Bowls event, a global initiative to raise awareness and funds to combat hunger and food insecurity. Currently in Iowa, 344,550 people are facing hunger—and 110,500 of those are children. In the United States, hunger has been on the rise for the second year in a row.
Students at Maharishi School have been hard at work creating beautiful ceramic bowls in a class led by master potter Mark Wilkins. These unique bowls will be paired with a delicious selection of unlimited soups and bread for a $25 donation—and the bowl is yours to keep. Guests can choose their own bowl and which organization their donation will go to: Fairfield’s local Stone Soup Community Kitchen at Golden Magnolia Sanctuary, or Action Against Hunger, a humanitarian organization dedicated to ending hunger and malnutrition worldwide.
The event takes place from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. at Maharishi School Student Center on Sunday, January 19.
Please purchase your tickets in advance by sending an email to: marketing@MaharishiSchool.org. Advanced purchase will help the school prepare enough food, but payment will also be accepted at the door.
