Music Meets Poetry: StarWound Presents a Collaborative Concert at Cafe Paradiso

StarWound of Athens, Greece

On Friday, October 25, Cafe Paradiso welcomes sophisti-pop trio StarWound, traveling all the way from Athens, Greece, for an extraordinary 2024 tour that fuses music with poetry.

StarWound’s music typically blends a cabaret ambience with elements of EDM and synth-rock genres, and their lyrics speak to the philosophical and social concerns of modern society. The trio has appeared at many major festivals throughout Europe, and their three albums have seen extensive airplay.

The band recently embarked on a unusual mission, a project titled “Interiors,” in which they collaborated with contemporary poets and performed new co-written works at universities across the Midwest.

Nynke Passi, director of the MFA in Creative Writing program at MIU

The Cafe Paradiso show is part of their “Interiors Vol. 2” tour. As an added bonus—and bringing a special local element to the performance, one of the songs StarWound will be performing on October 25 was created from a poem by Nynke Passi, director of the MFA in Creative Writing program at MIU and founder of the Soul Bone Literary Festival.

MIU’s creative writing students will also have the opportunity to perform collaborative works with the band Friday night. While visiting Fairfield, StarWound will be facilitating a poetry and music collaborative workshop with students and the larger community on Friday, October 25, from 1–3:30 p.m. at the Wege Arts Center on campus. After the workshop, poets who wish to join StarWound on stage the same evening will rehearse their pieces with the band.

Tickets to this unique, collaborative show that’s sure to sparkle are $20 at the door or $15 in advance, available at CafeParadiso.net or at Cafe Paradiso, 101 N. Main Street.
