“We are very excited to build on the success of our last few performing arts seasons in 2024 and 25,” says Executive Director Lindsay Bauer. “The last season had record-breaking attendance, and we expect these tickets to sell out quickly. We’re thrilled to bring joy to our community through this fantastic lineup full of variety.” (See full lineup below.)

Grateful Dead tribute band Winterland performs on the outdoor stage in front of the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center on August 8.

Last Free Outdoor Summer Concert of the Season is August 8!

The Fairfield Arts & Convention Center finishes off its fabulous Free Outdoor Summer Concert Series on Thursday, August 8, with beloved Iowa City band Winterland, presented in partnership with KMCD Live on the Square.

Specializing in the Grateful Dead’s catalog and sound from 1969 through the late 1970s, Winterland pulls you back in time to a place where the Dead’s rhythm & blues, folk, and country roots were still deeply embedded in their music—even as they explored the wild and experimental outer reaches of psychedelic rock. Winterland channels the music of the Grateful Dead with uncanny authenticity in a sublime fidelity to the Dead’s musicianship and tonality, and especially in their emotional relationship with the audience. It’s a thing of subtle and wily magic, not to be missed.

This free show begins at 7:30 p.m. in front of the FACC at 200 N. Main St. Bring your own chairs and picnic, and enjoy beverages and popcorn while you’re there soaking up the scene.

Rhythm India comes to the FACC in March 2025.

Cinema Fairfield

There’s nothing like seeing it on the big screen! Cinema Fairfield, a community-supported nonprofit movie house, is planning its upcoming season of movies—a mix of new releases, classics, and locally produced films. Films are screened in the beautiful Sondheim Theater for the Performing Arts, located in the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.

“Since the Orpheum Theater was closed some years ago, the FACC board wanted to serve the community by providing a local movie theater,” explains Cinema Fairfield organizer Solomon Davis.

Titles are chosen based on current studio releases, the last genre that was screened, and community requests. “We love to feature new releases, locally produced work, and classic/repertory titles,” says Davis. “We’re also very open to suggestions from you. We’re here for the community!”

Save the date! A special baseball-themed weekend of movie screenings will be taking place Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30–Sept. 1, with two screenings of a new independent family movie, Rally Caps, starring Judd Hirsh (along with a Friday night Q&A with the director and producer of the film), and two screenings of Field of Dreams, starring Kevin Costner.

The easiest way to check Cinema Fairfield movie offerings is to Google “Cinema Fairfield.” Movies and screening times are also posted on Fairfield365.com. To get the latest news, email cinema@facc.com to sign up for the Cinema Fairfield newsletter.
