The Fairfield Art Association announces an Opening Reception on Friday, March 4, for its Membership Exhibit, in conjunction with Fairfield’s First Fridays after a delay last month. The overflowing exhibition of works by 39 area artists is on display in the Main Gallery at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center, 200 N. Main Street, open from 6:30–8:30 p.m. The public is invited to participate in the ongoing “Vote for Your Favorite Art Piece,” with a popular-vote prize given to the winning artist.
This is the largest Membership Show in years and consists of over 87 different art works in a wide range of mediums, including paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and guache, plus soft and oil pastels, photography, alcohol ink and resin, spray paint, mixed media, collage, pencil, digital art, charcoal, clay, fiber art, and jewelry.
Artists participating from Southeast Iowa include Fairfield artists Ron Weinberg, Laura Goldman Weinberg, Elaine Duncan, Jenny Sammons, Dave Fredericks, Trish Rocca, Suzan Bates Kessel, Ann Bosold, John Preston, Care Connet, John Schirmer, Werner Elmker, Mark Shafer, Brett Hendericks, Bonnie Hendericks, David Kraemer, Hans Olson, Cris Soth, Cindy Ballou, Chris Cambridge, Pam Lander, Wendy Stegall, and Wendy Read; Keosauqua artists Debbie Finney and Terry Moore; Washington artist Kathleen Almelein; Ottumwa artist Mark Dillon; Libertyville artist Bruce Moore; Pulaski artist Deb Baughman; Fort Madison artists Jessica Kirby and Carlene Dingman Atwater; New London artists Cathryn Layer and Robin Fisher; Packwood artists Matt Guise and Steve Mitchell; Mt. In a side exhibition are recent works by local artist and FAA member Wendy Stegall in the Hallway Gallery. “You won’t want to miss this delicious display in addition to the fabulous talents in the Main Gallery,” says FAA Volunteer Director Suzan Kessel, “and then visit the Sales Gallery to view more new works and see what frames and art supplies we’ve found to sell at bargain prices.”
On Sunday, March 20 (new date), all are welcome to return to the FACC for a fun membership event for exhibiting artists, FAA members, and guests. This first-day-of-spring party will include desserts and beverages beginning at 1:30 p.m., with critiques and judge’s awards at 2:30 p.m.
