With temperatures dropping to the single digits this weekend, ice aplenty is a guarantee. Why not embrace the crystalline beauty of this frigid season by watching huge blocks of ice turn into awesome sculptures?
Icestravaganza returns to Davenport for its seventh year on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at the Freight House, 421 W. River Drive. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. you can watch professional ice sculptors carve 24,000 pounds of ice into ten giant, interactive works of art. This year’s theme is the Great American Road Trip.
In addition to ice carving, you can enjoy free kids’ activities, photo opportunities with costumed characters, and extended Farmers Market hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
After the sun goes down, the ice sculptures are lit to make viewing even more spectacular. Icestravaganza continues with an after-hours party (for those 21 and over) from 6-8 p.m. Tickets are $15 and include a free drink. Front Street Brewery craft beer and complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served at the 20-foot ice bar. Watch the fire dancers from QC Sol Fire and enjoy dancing to DJ music. After the party, follow the music inside to the Front Street Brewery Taproom starting at 8 p.m.
