On July 16, 8-11 p.m., the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center Pavilion will be transformed into a Disco Dance ballroom for one night to remember! The star of the night will be Randy Jones, the original cowboy from the 70s disco sensation, the Village People. Randy will be performing a song from back in the day. Tickets are available at the Pavilion doors for $5 and will include a $5 off coupon for the Way Off Broadway production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which will be running at the Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts, July 11-27. Local KRUU “Speaking Freely” host Dennis Ramondi will be the Masters of Ceremonies. The hit musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will be performed at the Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts this summer, for three weekends only: July 11-13, 17-20, and 24-27. Artistic Director Randal K. West is teaming up with Music Director Justin Hill and Choreographer Adam Cates to create an eye-catching extravaganza of song and dance. Joseph, written by the award-winning team of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, is based on the Biblical story of Joseph and his “coat of many colors." A big high energy dance show – not to be missed!!
The Sondheim Center is also extremely pleased to present Broadway Star Randy Jones, who was the original cowboy in the 70s disco mega-group the Village People. He will be playing the role of the Pharaoh. After performing in Fairfield he will continue work on the films Against the Wind and Working Out. Autumn 2008 will bring a new History Channel documentary about dance, disco and the 70s as well as RJ’s new book, Macho Man, a personal observation of Pop Culture in the 20th Century. In 2009, RJ with Village People is scheduled to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
